Nautical
Sail away with nautical inspired pieces......

One of my favourite colours has to be navy.  A classic, sophisticated and smart shade that is more forgiving than black and I think suits pretty much everyone.  A key colour for a nautical vibe and a trend that never goes out of season, here are some of my nautical ideas for whatever the weather:

Spring/Summer:
  • Stripe sundress
  • Navy/white shorts & stripe tee
  • Stripe skirt & plain tee
  • Stripe espadrilles/white pumps
Autumn/Winter:
  • Navy blazer, stripe tee and chino's
  • Tailored navy trousers, stripe blouse and pumps
  • Stripe scarf or bag
As day two's adventures included the old town and Barcelona's marina (Port Vell) a soft, thin stripe tee, navy high waisted shorts and flats seemed appropriate!  Plus the weather was amazing and I wanted to make the most of being able to wear shorts!

"Sometimes I feel like I'm in Barcelona.................."!

A place that has always been on my bucket list.  My friend Leigh and I spent 3 days in this stunning, medieval Spanish city.  From the shopping... to lunch... to the architecture....I was simply amazed!!

In true tourist style I had my camera, guide book, sunnies and with lots of walking in order...........my new black/silver toe-cap skate pumps! (My favs at the mo!)

Sports luxe has been a key trend for SS14 and since it was still going to be hot weather I made sure to pack pieces that I could adapt easily from day to night.  A super cute, leather-look miniskirt with zip front and pocket detailing combined with my skater flats instantly worked this sporty appeal.  Complete with a pair of clubmaster Ray Bans and a city print Parfois bag........ I was ready for day uno in Barcelona!

For a night edit....add a pair of heels, fitted blouse and dainty jewellery.

Day one - Camp Nou (Barcelona FC), Park Güell - one of Gaudi's creations and Plaça de Catalunya.

Ciao Albufeira......!!

A time to accentuate our tans and make the most of the end of summer.......WHITE-OUT!

Whilst my sister chose minimal, and simplicity with a cute, chic, loose fit dress, I went monochromatic.  Blocked patterns or embroidery in black and white create a timeless, classic look and will work well alongside existing pieces in your wardrobe.  In contrast to the rich detailing skirt, I chose a basic white shirt, white flats and a white flower headband.

Crisp all-white was highlighted across the runways this SS14 whether it was a tailored or casual athletic look.  Not sure on all white?!  Then mix it up through different use of textiles; including leathers, silk, crochet or denim.

Investment of this summer....the jumpsuit!

With sales doubling since last year, the jumpsuit should have been top of your wish list!

This casual, comfortable and chic jumpsuit complete with fitted waistline and belt was perfect for a laid-back vibe for dinner.  In contrast to the bright, vibrant tropical print I picked my simple, white Next flats.  Love them or hate them.....the flat sliders or Birkenstocks were key this season!

QED London offer some great vivid and loud colours and prints.....something I usually keep for holidays. But with Autumn and Winter looming, check out the tailored, smart, silk, glam jumpsuits on offer.  Navy, black, red or metallics are right on trend...... Lavish Alice, Ted Baker, Little Mistress and Topshop have already caught my eye!!
